In this estimated 40-minute lesson, learners revise original sample paragraphs so readers can follow the ideas. They clarify vague references, connect and order related ideas, and preserve the draft’s intended meaning unless a task explicitly asks for a content change.

Support and adaptation

• Read or chunk the draft, explicitly name the intended meaning, and let learners point, dictate, type, or write. Ask one neutral question at a time, such as “What does this word refer to?” Preserve the learner’s decisions about wording and sentence order.

Extension

• Compare two different revisions that preserve the same information. Discuss how word choice, order, or a justified transition changes the reader’s path. If learners change content, require them to identify that change because the independent task itself requires preservation.
