Privacy Policy
Effective August 14, 2026 · Last revised August 14, 2026
This policy describes what Mentor Teaching actually collects, stores, and shares. It is written for working educators, and it avoids claiming protections the site does not provide. If anything here is unclear, contact work@laclear.us.
Who operates the site and how to reach us
Mentor Teaching is an independently maintained teaching-resource library. Privacy questions, deletion requests, and data-related concerns can be sent to work@laclear.us or through the contact page.
Information the site collects automatically
Like nearly every web server, the hosting server records routine technical information when pages are requested:
- IP address of the requesting device or network
- Browser type and operating system (user agent)
- Requested URL and referring page
- Date and time of the request
- HTTP status code and transfer size
These server logs help the operator diagnose errors, understand which pages are requested, and protect the site from abuse. Logs are retained on the hosting server for approximately 14 days (daily rotation, 14 compressed archives) and are not sold or shared with third parties.
Information you choose to send
Contact-form submissions
The contact form stores only the fields shown on the form: request type, page URL (optional), grade band (optional), subject (optional), teaching goal, planning constraint (optional), desired resource type (optional), source suggestion (optional), and email address (optional unless you request a reply). Submissions are stored in a private database used for editorial review.
- Why it is collected: to review, act on, or reply to your request.
- Who can access it: the site operator. No third party is given access for their own purposes.
- How long it is retained: submissions are kept only as long as needed to act on the request. There is no fixed automated retention period; the operator can delete a submission on request at any time.
- How it can be deleted: email work@laclear.us from the address you submitted with (or with enough detail to identify the submission) and ask for deletion.
- Whether a reply is sent: only when you ask for a response and provide an email address.
- Processing providers: the hosting server and the operator's email service process the submission. No advertising or analytics vendor sees it.
Student data: Do not submit student names, student records, medical details, disability information, safeguarding information, or any other identifiable student data. The form is for educators' planning questions, not student information of any kind. The site is designed for adult educators and is not directed to children.
Email sent to work@laclear.us is processed by the operator's email provider, which operates under its own terms and privacy policy.
Spam prevention
The contact form uses a hidden honeypot field, a minimum time-between-open-and-submit check, and request rate limiting. The honeypot field is discarded and never stored. No IP address is stored with form submissions or interaction events.
Analytics
The site does not currently use third-party analytics. No analytics cookies, beacons, or trackers are loaded. Anonymous in-site usefulness events (for example, that a copy or print control was used, or that a library search returned no results) are recorded without IP addresses or personal identifiers to help the operator improve the site.
Cookies and local storage
The site does not set cookies before a visitor acts. If you make a privacy choice using the "Privacy choices" control in the footer, the site stores a small first-party record of that choice (in a cookie and, where available, local storage) so it can honor it on later visits. You can review or change that choice at any time using the same control. Essential technical storage (such as serving the page itself) does not require consent.
Advertising technology
Advertising is not currently active on this site. If and when advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. The site will then disclose the specific vendors in the Cookie and Advertising Disclosure, and ads will load only after the consent choices described there are made.
To learn how Google uses data when it serves advertising, visit Google's advertising data-use page. To control personalized advertising from Google, visit Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at AboutAds choices.
Consent records
When you make a privacy choice, the site stores which purposes you accepted or refused (for example, advertising storage) and when. Refusing optional purposes does not block access to any content on the site. Consent records are stored on your device and are not shared with third parties except as needed to pass your choices to the advertising or analytics products you accepted, as described in the Cookie and Advertising Disclosure.
Information sharing
The site shares information only in the ways described above: hosting and email providers process routine technical data and messages; advertising vendors (only if advertising is enabled and you consent) receive consent signals and serve ads; no data is sold. The site does not claim that data is never shared, because hosting, email, spam prevention, and any future advertising providers necessarily process some data.
Retention and deletion
Server logs are rotated and deleted after approximately 14 days. Contact submissions are retained only as long as needed to act on them and can be deleted on request. Consent records can be cleared from your device at any time through the "Privacy choices" control or your browser's storage controls.
Security limitations
The site uses HTTPS and standard hosting safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Please avoid submitting sensitive personal information through the form.
International visitors
The site is hosted on servers in the United States. Visitors from other countries should know that routine technical data and any voluntary submissions are processed on those servers. If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland and advertising is enabled, the site's consent controls will ask for the choices required by applicable law before any advertising storage occurs.
Your choices
- Revoke or change consent: use the "Privacy choices" control in the footer, or clear cookies and site data in your browser.
- Request deletion of a submission: email work@laclear.us.
- Control personalized advertising: see Google Ad Settings and the AboutAds choices link above.
Changes to this policy
If the site's data practices change (for example, when advertising is enabled), this policy and the Cookie and Advertising Disclosure will be updated with the date of the change before the new practice takes effect.
