Editorial and Corrections Policy
Last revised August 14, 2026
Mentor Teaching is an independently maintained teaching-resource library written for working educators. This policy explains how content is prepared, how sources are chosen, how errors are corrected, and what an "updated" date means.
Purpose and audience
The site publishes practical planning resources for adult educators: lesson-planning guides, classroom strategies, assessment guidance, and ready-to-use lesson ideas. The intended audience is teachers and educators — the site is not directed to children, and its resources are written to be adapted by a professional, not used directly by students as a consumer product.
How articles are prepared
- Each article is built around a specific planning decision or deliverable, with a stated audience and outcome.
- Claims that are causal, quantitative, or contested are supported by named sources.
- Peer-reviewed research and systematic reviews are preferred when a claim is causal, quantitative, or contested.
- Government education agencies, IES resources, university teaching centers, CAST, CASEL, PBIS, established standards organizations, and relevant professional organizations are preferred for foundational guidance.
- Practitioner resources are used as examples or implementation aids, not as proof of broad causal claims.
- Narrow or remove claims when an appropriate source cannot support the wording.
- No article claims classroom experience, credentials, student outcomes, or endorsements that the site does not actually have.
Illustrations
Illustrations on the site are created with image-generation tools and are editorial illustrations, not photographs. They are decorative and are labeled accordingly (an empty image alternative), so screen readers skip them.
Review and update dates
Publication dates reflect when an article was first published and are never changed to make a page appear newer. An "updated" date is added only after a complete substantive review of the page body — not for metadata, formatting, or excerpt changes. High-priority teaching guides are reviewed when a source, policy, accessibility requirement, or classroom-use concern changes and during scheduled quality passes; other articles are reviewed in priority order by risk, traffic importance, and practical value.
Corrections
When an error, broken source, or unclear passage is identified, the page is reviewed against the available evidence and corrected in place. Confirmed corrections of substance receive an updated date. To report an error, use the contact page (choose "Correction or unclear passage") or email work@laclear.us. Reports are reviewed, and the reporter is not required to create an account.
Editorial independence
No advertiser, sponsor, or outside party controls article selection, content, or conclusions. Advertising, when enabled, is clearly separated from editorial content; see the Cookie and Advertising Disclosure.
What the site does not replace
Resources provide general classroom-planning information. They do not replace district policy, individualized education plans, accommodations, safeguarding procedures, legal advice, or the judgment of qualified school support professionals. See the Terms of Use.
