Accessibility Statement

Mentor Teaching aims to make its resources usable by all educators, including those who use assistive technology. This statement describes the site's approach, its current limitations, and how to report problems.

Approach and conformance target

The site is developed as a plain, semantic, static website and is tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a target. Conformance is a continuous goal, not a claim of certified compliance; the site does not claim a third-party accessibility certification.

Practices currently in place include:

• Semantic page structure with one H1 per page and ordered headings
• A skip-to-content link on every page
• Keyboard-operable navigation, forms, copy controls, and the consent interface
• Visible focus states and sufficient contrast in the default theme
• Descriptive labels on all form fields, with required fields identified programmatically
• Specific, accessible validation messages on the contact form
• Tables with header cells; wide tables scroll horizontally on small screens rather than overflowing
• Decorative illustrations with empty alternatives so screen readers skip them
• Print stylesheets that keep content readable without the header, footer, or controls
• Support for reduced-motion preferences (no decorative animation is required to use the site)

Known limitations

• Some linked external sources (research PDFs, district documents) are outside the site's control and may not meet the same standards.
• The library search requires JavaScript to filter results; without JavaScript, all resources remain visible as a complete, paginated list.
• Older browsers may not support the site's layout or the consent interface.

How to report an issue

If any page, tool, or control is hard to use or read, report it through the contact page (choose "Accessibility issue") or email work@laclear.us. Include the page URL and, where possible, the assistive technology you use. Reports are reviewed and fixed in priority order; confirmed fixes are published with a new revision date.
