Character Change: Teach, Respond and Recheck

Browse free resources

A bounded Grade 6 literacy collection connecting L06 teaching and cover-work practice with unused checks and concrete response tasks.

C06 v1.0.0 connects accepted L06 content v0.1.1 with new G6R02 v1.0.0. The existing C04 L06 independent-use adaptation v0.1.0 is included as a versioned practice variant, not a new instructional family. This is a supplemental character-change sequence, not a full Grade 6 reading curriculum.

Every file is free. No account, email address, payment or learning platform is required.

Where to start

  1. First teaching: use L06’s model, guided comparison and individual response. Compare words or actions over time, distinguish the person from circumstances, and limit unsupported claims.
  2. Independent-use cover work: use C04’s separate character activity and teacher notes. It reuses the L06 story; after exposure, it supplies practice.
  3. After teaching: use G6R02’s separate unused check, concrete response routes, reserved recheck and later transfer. Share only the selected file and retain future stimuli and keys.

Complete classroom package

Download C06 v1.0.0 classroom ZIP — all new student/teacher PDF, editable Word and HTML files, the exact original four L06 PDF/Word files, and the exact four C04 character-activity PDF/Word files. Start with README and the teacher-only Start Here guide.

The ZIP includes teacher keys and reserved stories. Keep the archive with the teacher and share only the selected student file. The original L06 learner packet exposes its practiced story. Original C03/C04 ZIPs retain their accepted memberships; this separate package does not replace them.

Use evidence to select a response

Consider early evidence, later evidence, explanation of character versus circumstances, and claim limits separately. Clarify access or an unclear response first; use the concrete task for the tentative move chosen. An already shown story is practice, even when completed independently. No single check establishes a lasting trait, ability ranking or validated mastery level.

Fit, sources and review

AI-authored and independently AI-reviewed within the recorded version and scope. Classroom effectiveness, grade fit and timing have not been established. Brief responses support tentative local teaching moves; they are not diagnostic scores, placement decisions or validated equivalent forms. New stories and instructional wording are original fictional examples. Teachers may print and adapt these materials for classroom use under the site’s Terms of Use; retain attribution and identify local changes. The site does not collect student responses. Terms of Use.

L06 and its C04 adaptation retain their original versions and review records; the new response cycle has its own recorded independent reviews. Native Word structure and text are checked, but application rendering, assistive-technology conformance and classroom outcomes remain unverified.
