Paper session 2: Evaluate comparison conditions
Mentor Teaching · Teacher directions · 15 October 2026
Plan and prerequisites
35–45 minutes. Planning estimate; adjust to the class.
Evidence of accurate start/final/change reading from session 1, or the included prerequisite bridge.
Print in this order
1. Prerequisite bridge, model and guided practice
Give each independent or new-evidence file only at the stage described below. Keep answers with the teacher.
Teach and demonstrate
Model how to name the question before checking conditions. Compare water amount, start temperature, duration, cups/covers, room, position and reading method. Explain why subtracting starts does not remove an unequal-mass confound. Guide the setup-card repair.
Learner work and evidence
Give Fresh critique after guided work. Collect the named confound, a matched plan, what to record and a limit on what the comparison would show.
Next decision and continuation
Choose Repair the comparison for a confound, or Specify a usable plan for a missing procedure. Do not treat a repaired paper plan as a completed physical experiment.
Matching complete teacher key
Teacher guide pages 1–4; named follow-ups on pages 5–6 and later key on page 7.

Access and interpretation
Offer oral, dictated, pointing or labelled responses when they show the same intended reasoning. Keep each task’s quantities, conditions and sources available. Allow extra response paper. A supplied-data explanation does not establish actual construction or testing.
